Roof Inspection

Living in Alberta, home owners are subjected to some extreme weather conditions that could drastically impact the integrity of your roof. From seasonal hail storms and snow storms, strong winds that occur year round, as well as drastic temperature fluctuations, all of these unavoidable weather conditions can lead to damage to your roof. Damage to your roof is something that you’ll want to address and repair sooner rather than later to avoid serious structural damage to your home. It is recommended that you have your roof inspected after any severe weather conditions as well as if you are planning on putting your home on the market for sale.

Econo Roofing is happy to send out a certified roof inspector, free of charge. There are several objectives when it comes to a roof inspection. Our Inspector will determine the materials used and their current conditions, identify any signs of damage, weakness, deterioration, as well as any structural hazards. During the inspection, the insulation of your attic will also be inspected, the inspector will measure the depth of your existing insulation as well as check ventilation systems and check vapour barriers. Did you know that a significant amount of your home’s energy efficiency can be lost through your roof without the proper insulation?

If repairs are required to your roof or insulation, Econo Roofing will ensure that you are fully aware of the issues as well as provide photos of the problem areas so that you understand what it is that we found. We will gladly provide you with an estimate for your roof replacement or repair. A well maintained, high quality roof will efficiently protect your home from the outside elements and even lower your energy bills as well as increase the value of your home.

Asphalt Roofing

There are several options when it comes to the materials used for your roof replacement, asphalt shingles being the most common and affordable option. Asphalt shingles are both economical as well as durable and their affordability does not compromise the life span of your roof, you can expect your asphalt roof to last anywhere from 20 – 50 years, depending on the type you purchase.

Being one of the easiest materials for installation, using asphalt shingles typically takes less time for your new roof to be completed.

Asphalt shingles come in two different designs. The traditional 3-Tab Design Shingles, which is typically what most people think of when they think “asphalt shingles” and are available in a large variety of colors.

The second option for you to consider is Architectural Shingles, also known as laminated or dimensional shingles. Architectural shingles are about 50% heavier than the 3-tab design shingles and are a sturdier roofing material. They imitate the look of classic wood shakes and feature a dimensional thickness.

Metal Roofing

Of all roofing materials, it is well known that metal roofing is without a doubt the longest lasting option for roofing material. When it comes to metal roofing, there are a variety of options available for you to consider for your home.

Mechanically seamed panel roofing is the most popular option when it comes to both residential and commercial metal roofing, this is because it is one of the most durable and weather-tight roof systems available. These panels are standing seam panels which have a male and female leg that are designed with clips that line up so that they can be locked together by a mechanical or hand seamer. There are two different locking systems to consider; single lock or double lock. Single lock is typically used in more mild climates whereas double lock is used when a more weathertight fit is needed (like in Alberta where we have regular dumps of snow and freezing temperatures during the winter). Because there are no exposed fasteners, this significantly decreases the likelihood of water infiltration. Clamps are used to attach the panels to the roof deck, which means that they’re free from any nail or fastener holes which could lead to moisture seeping through.

Snap lock  seam is a type of standing seam metal roofing and has a lot of the same design elements. These panels are designed to snap together, which makes the installation process faster and simpler in comparison to other options.

The team at Econo Roofing is happy to discuss all of these options with you, as well as the pros and cons of each option in order to figure out which roofing option is best for you!
